Important Cyprus Holiday Villa Rental Checklist

Here's a list of points to help you make sure you get exactly what you are looking for when you rent a villa in Cyprus. If you stick to these points, you'll avoid any potential pitfalls that can affect people renting a villa in Cyprus, or anywhere else for that matter!

Use a reputable letting company or someone who comes recommended. Make sure you have full contact details before you send any money (not just a mobile).Does the company/person have a professional looking web site with full contact details

Be very suspicious of prices that seem extremely low for no good reason. Don't make payment through services like Western Union or Money Gram, as the cash can be "received" anonymously. If possible pay by credit card, and ensure your card has the appropriate protection (call them first to be sure)

Shop around and speak to agents by phone first when looking online, or at least send an email and see how they reply. Ask if you can speak to previous customers of the letting agent, if they have done a good job they should have no problem with this. Do a Google search on the company or individual's name as you may be surprised at what you find

Be sure you understand if the price being quoted is in Cypriote pounds or Sterling (or now Euros!), so you are very clear exactly how much you are going to spend. Make sure you fully understand what time you can enter the villa upon arrival, and what time you need to leave the villa on departure

Make sure you know how to arrive to your exact destination, because the taxi driver may not know from the villa address, and you may be arriving during the night when nobody is available to guide you. Make sure you know the immediate surrounding area - is it next door to a disco (this may be a plus - it depends on what you want from your vacation), is there construction happening next door, all day, everyday?
